Uni-directional pumps are often used in applications where the flow of hydraulic fluid is required in one direction only, such as in simple hydraulic systems or systems with fixed flow requirements.

 

Bi-directional pumps: These pumps are capable of discharging hydraulic fluid in two directions: from the pump to the hydraulic system (forward direction) and from the hydraulic system back to the pump (reverse direction).
